USMLE program announces upcoming policy changes

Changing Step 1 score reporting from a three-digit numeric score to reporting only pass/fail;
The USMLE program will change score reporting for Step 1 from a three-digit numeric score to reporting only a pass/fail
outcome. A numeric score will continue to be reported for Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) and Step 3. Step 2 Clinical Skills (CS)
will continue to be reported as Pass/Fail. This policy will take effect no earlier than January 1, 2022 with further details to follow
later this year.
3자리숫자 점수에서 합격,불합격 으로 step1 점수 변경
A : 2022년 1월1일이전으로 세부정보와 함께 시행할것이고, 3자리수대신 합격/불합격으로 step1변경되고 Step2CK 와
step3 점수는 그대로 진행됩니다.
Reducing the allowable number of exam attempts on each Step or Step Component from six to four; and The new policy will be
implemented no earlier than January 1, 2021.
B : 2021년1월1일 이전에 시행될 계획, Step별 허용되는 시험 시도 횟수를 6번에서 4번으로 줄어듭니다
Requiring all examinees to successfully pass Step 1 as a prerequisite for taking Step 2 Clinical Skills The USMLE program is
implementing an examination prerequisite for Step 2 Clinical Skills (CS)—specifically, all examinees will be required to pass Step 1
in order to take Step 2 CS. Further details are forthcoming and this policy will take effect no earlier than March 1, 2021.

D : Fee Increases for 2020 ( 응시료 및 기간연장 비용)
Effective January 1, 2020, fees for the following ECFMG applications/service requests will increase:
The fee for Application for ECFMG Certification will be $145. (온라인등록비용)
The examination fees for USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) will be $965 for each exam
registration.(한국에서 볼 경우 Step1$1160, Stpe2CK $1185)
The examination fee for Step 2 Clinical Skills (CS) will be $1,600 for each exam registration. (CS비용)
The fee for an extension of eligibility period for USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK will be $90. (기간연장비용)
The fee for a change of testing region for USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK will be $85.
The fee for rescheduling a Step 2 CS testing appointment will be 0-$1,300 (depending on the date of cancellation).
The fee for a Certification Verification Service (CVS) request will be $55.
The fee for an application for J-1 visa sponsorship will be $350.

E : Change in Minimum Passing Score for Step 3
December 10, 2019
The recommended United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®) Step 3 minimum passing score will change from
196 to 198. This change will affect examinees who take a Step 3 examination that begins on or after January 1, 2020.
