I am currently in third year of Medicine in America.
High achievements for registration or hospital employment could be meaningless for students who are American citizens or permanent residency holders. However, like me have to attain high distinction in step1 and step2k for residency application which made me hesitate.
American curriculums are a stepwise programs focused on the theory itself. It provides strong basis for those lacking knowledge. However, for students who are aiming for high scores can only reach to a certain point but not any further with those programs. Korean curriculums dig into the core of the structure of the exam and try to meet what the examiners are looking for. It may seem a bit haphazard but is much more efficient.
My NBME test results were not as satisfactory even though I took quite a number of famous classes and attempted a lot of questions. This made me come back to Korea during winter holiday and take step 1, GMES classes. It was much suitable for students like me eager to achieve high percentage in the exam. I have refreshed my knowledge by reviewing and attempting a lot of different questions after returning to America. Then, I finally gained 250/99 on 15th of October which was very satisfying.
GMES lecture in Korea focused more on the structure of the exam and how to score the top. It was something that can never be experienced in America. It was certainly stunning and each and every class was very well structured.
There are four Korean students in my Med school at the moment who raced back to Korea after coming across my story of success.

저는 현재 미국에서 의과대학 본 3학년에 재학 중입니다.
미국 출신들은 면허증 취득과정이나 병원취업을 위해서 고득점 합격이라는 것은 별로 큰 의미가 없지만 시민권이나 영주권도 없는 외국인인 저는 레지던트 취업을 위해서 step1, step2k 두 개의 step을 고득점으로 합격해야 되는 입장이기 때문에 많은 고심을 하고 있었습니다.
미국식의 강의는 교육과정 본질의 원론적인 강의를 하고 있기 때문에 고득점 합격을 목적으로 시험 준비를 하는 입장에서는 강의를 듣는 자체가 상당한 부담을 가질 수밖에 없습니다. 즉 한국의 족집게식 핵심을 추출해주는 강의를 미국에서는 경험할 수 없기 때문입니다.
저는 미국에서 유명세를 갖고 있는 live 강의를 들었고 문제도 많이 풀었지만 nbme테스트 결과 성적이 좋지 않았고 고심 끝에 한국의 GMES 강의를 수강하기위해 지난 겨울방학을 이용 한국에 돌아와 GMES에서 step1 강의를 수강하고 미국에 들어와서 학기 중에 리뷰와 문제풀이를 하여 지난 10월 15일 응시한 결과 250/99점으로 만족한 점수로 합격하였습니다.
GMES의 강의는 한국식의 중요 핵심을 집어주는 강의로 고득점 합격을 위해서는 무엇을 어떻게 공부해야하는지를 확실하게 집어준 강의였으며 미국에서는 경험할 수 없는 강의라는 것이지요. 고득점합격을 필요로 하는 한국인에게 GMES 강의는 너무도 훌륭한 강의였다고 생각합니다.
현재 제가 다니고 있는 의과대학에 한국인 학생이 4명이 재학 중입니다. 저의 합격 결과를 보고 모두 방학 동안에 한국에 가서 준비하려는 계획을 세우고 있습니다.
